DMSO
Night before last my neighbor called around 8pm. Our other neighbor had burned her hand with boiling water. “Can you help her?” she asked. Of course I could! I grabbed my Traumeel gel and a bottle of DMSO and headed across the street in my pajamas. She was in pain, so I immediately put the DMSO on her hand, waited a minute or two and put on the Traumeel. Within a couple minutes the pain had decreased significantly.
So, what happened? What is this DMSO stuff?
DMSO, or Dimethyl Sulfoxide is the perfect remedy for burns as it quickly stops the tissue from being further damaged. It also helps repair the tissue that has been burned. First discovered in 1866 by a Russian scientist, Alexander Zaytsev, it was an industrial product of the wood pulp industry. It was noticed that deer would come out of the woods to lick at the DMSO left behind on the roads at the factories. But nothing much came of its discovery until the 1960’s when it was being studied as a preservative for kidneys destined for transplant.
DMSO has this amazing ability of being able to quickly penetrate our cells. It substitutes for water in the living cell, and because of this remarkable property, it can heal the sick cell by destroying the free radicals in the cell. It also increases the permeability of cell membranes which helps the cell to flush out toxins. It can even cross the Blood Brain Barrier which not many substances can!
DMSO has been used with much success in severe brain injury, arthritis, scleroderma and I just read yesterday how it can be used for strokes.
So, why don’t most people know about this magical substance?
Back 1964 the FDA (I like to call them the f-in da, lol) complained bitterly about DMSO because it was both an industrial solvent and a drug. They had trouble regulating it. There was a back market for it, being sold in tractor stores, hardware stores, even ice cream parlors across the nation. People were getting excellent results and they were curing themselves of many dis-eases.
On Good Morning America, back in 1981, Robert Herschler, the co-discoverer of the pharmaceutical effects of DMSO spilled the beans. He was quoted as saying “The FDA could not control it. Beyond that, we had a meeting with Francis Kelsey of the FDA where she raised her hand and said, “We simply cannot cope with a product like DMSO. We envision hundreds of applications (NDA’s) coming in and we simply don’t have the staff”. And that was their decision. They couldn’t ‘cope’.
From then on, they took a hard line against DMSO to the point where it was banned until 1983!
Thankfully, DMSO is now easily purchased online. It should be in everyone’s medicine cabinet. God forbid a loved one has a stroke but how many times have you accidently burned yourself in the kitchen? It has saved me from burns many times over the last 20 years.
I’ve used this brand before at amazon https://amzn.to/3xPmLR5 but most brands are just fine. (amazon affiliate link)
I don’t know about you, but in the event of an emergency, I will feel less helpless if I have DMSO in my medicine cabinet.

Also, apply DMSO topically to the head of the patient, preferably before they are on their way to the ER. Once in the ER, they’re not going to let you do it.
